The Konkan Coastal Marathon, which began with the intention of establishing Ratnagiri as Dhavangari, has many facets. In many parts of the country and the world, people participate in various types of marathons. Today, as the world faces various natural problems such as global warming, pollution, erratic rainfall, etc., Ratnagiri, a naturally rich region like Ratnagiri, is considering how to present a very neglected game in the state in a beautiful way. Keeping this in mind, the idea of organizing the Konkan Coastal Marathon was born.
Today, there are many marathons held around the world. Each marathon is recognized for some reason. While organizing the Konkan Coastal Marathon, it was decided to keep the route of the marathon through the naturally rich villages, thus ensuring that participants from all over the world would enjoy the pleasure of nature along with running. And this has indeed happened, as many marathon runners have testified.
What began as a spark of passion has now evolved into one of Maharashtra's most anticipated running festivals — the Konkan Coast Marathon (KCM)

The inaugural run was a heartfelt stride towards change. With 1,200 runners, the focus was clear promoting education in the rural heartlands. Women made up 18% of our participants a powerful beginning in redefining the running culture of Konkan.
The second edition bloomed with purpose and inclusion. Over 1,600 runners laced up for nature and community. The real triumph? 31% women participation, thanks to 80% of our pacers and influencers being women an inspiring wave of change that made KCM a beacon of empowerment.

The third edition took an incredible cultural turn, drawing over 2,200 passionate participants running in solidarity for the pride and preservation of the Marathi language. Winding through vibrant local coastal communities, this edition successfully blended structural athletic excellence with deep roots in regional identity and historic heritage.
Mark your calendars for 3rd January 2027! Our upcoming fourth edition is shifting gears to synthesize rhythmic running beats with coastal path routes. Anticipating an expansive limit of over 3,500 track runners, KCM 4 transforms traditional tracks into interactive open musical pathways featuring native percussion artists alongside scenic views. The Konkan Coastal Half Marathon Route elevation profile offers a unique and captivating experience for runners. The 21.1 kilometer course features a dynamic mix of flat stretches, gradual inclines, and more challenging climbs, with a total elevation gain of 221 meters.
This one-way route takes runners on a journey through 9 picturesque villages, each with its own charm and character. With no U-turns or loops, the course winds its way along the coast, offering stunning vistas of the ocean and surrounding landscape. As runners make their way through the villages, they'll have the opportunity to spot over 300 species of birds, making this a true paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
The route also features 4 bridges, taking runners over backwaters, rivers, and hills, before finally ending at a scenic beach.
